We will never, ever, fully believe that a Philadelphia team will win when it matters. This makes us beyond sad.

The Mets have been absolutely choking the season away the last two weeks. But today, John Maine almost throw a f*cking no-no, and the Mets won huge, 13-0.

We've told anyone who would listen not to talk about the goddamn playoffs, not to start talking sh*t, not to brag or not to jump on board a bandwagon that always, always loses a f*cking wheel when it really, really matters.

Still, even we believed. We changed the effing header to blood red at 4:30 in the morning when we couldn't sleep thinking about this.

The Phillies had a one-game lead this morning when they all woke up. We just turned off the game after Ryan Howard booted a ball in the seventh, and then Carlos Ruiz inexplicably threw a ball into center field with a runner on third. It's 4-0 Nationals right now.

If they come back, we'll eat our words. If they don't, well, the division is tied with one game left. You tell us who has a better chance: Tom Glavine, pitching for the Mets, or Jaime Moyer, pitching for the Phillies.

Someone best grow a set.

As Omar says on The Wire, "Come at the King, you best not miss."

Our good friend Brett is quite the optimist, according to his post-game email. He kind of talked us down from the ledge, but the mourning black stays at the PPL if this doesn't end well...

"Did you ever notice that Eaton looks like a fucking beaver? And no, not a good hairy beaver. The animal.

The scenario today wasn't good. Eaton was on the hill. The Phils facing a left-handed pitcher. The scoreboard showed the Mets had already won. All the hoopla last night. It wasn't meant to be.You gotta believe. There are only so many blue balls to go around.

D-Train owns the Mets, 11-3 in his career as a matter of fact. Moyer is a gamer. He will give it everything he has tomorrow. They face a right-handed pitcher in Bergmann.

I still say they pull this out. They have to. It's like a roller coaster ride. It will be much more rewarding tomorrow as I have SNY and CW on PIP to watch both games, like two years ago when I had the Cubs on WGN and the Phils on Comcast. I still have the bottle of champagne in the frig.

I will smash the bottle literally if they do not win right on the pavement outside.

Hang in there. This is it. I am taking Monday off of school if there is a playoff. The good news is the Mets would either throw Phillip Humber with his ERA over 7 in that game or bring back Pedro on three days of rest, which will never happen due to his pitch count he is on already.

Possibly Lohse vs. Humber.

I like their odds.

Don't get so down, damn it. Pump it up! I fucking believe!!!!!!!!!!"
